About Airospring - Sitting on air
Airospring wheelchair cushions and mattress toppers represent a new standard in pressure relief products. They are the result of extensive research carried out by the teams at Baltex Technical Textiles and The University of Bolton. Assistive technology is becoming more important and Airospring provides new solutions to the problem of pressure care. Following 6 years of research and development, a new standard in healthy seating is available for purchase. Airospring uses the latest innovative 3D fabric technology to make comfortable, breathable and washable cushions and toppers.
We even made a cushion for Karen Darke MBE who won a gold medal at the 2016 Paralympic games in Rio.
The patented products have been designed by award-winning textile company Baltex and Professor Subhash Anand MBE, one of the world's leading academics in Medical textiles.
Pressure Relief Devices from an Award Winning Company
Baltex was awarded the Innovation Prize for Technical Textiles at the 2010 Textile Institute World Conference thanks to the incredible invention of Airospring pressure relief cushions.
Each cushion is made from at least 3 layers of fabric. The three layers spread the weight around between them so that the pressure isn’t localised on just one small area. Pressure mapping trials have been conducted extensively at the University of Bolton to assess the performance of the cushions according to ISO 16840-2:2007.
Airospring was awarded its first patent in August 2014 and we were awarded a European patent for our shaped cushions in 2018.
